Derek is a native of Falkirk, Scotland, with 16 years of piping experience. He started with the Camelon Band in Falkirk at the age of 13, competing at the British, European, and World Championships. He also played with the Carlisle Pipe Band in England before moving to the United States.  

Derek joined the City of Rockford Pipe Band in 2002, and has been an active instructor in our school since then. He currently competes as a soloist in Grade 2, and is a member of the band’s Grade 3 competition unit.
