Bob is the founder and Pipe Major of the City of Rockford Pipe Band. The Philadelphia native learned his piping from Pipe Major Samuel Bogle, Montgomery County Highlanders, in the late 1960’s, and was an active member of the Highlanders through his relocation to Rockford in 1974. He marched with the Rockford Burns Club Band from 1992 through 1998, and formed the City of Rockford Pipe Band in 2000.

Under his direction the band school has produced numerous pipers and drummers in the Rockford area.
The band began competing in the Midwest Pipe Band Association in 2002, won the Grade 5  “Champion Supreme”  title in 2003 resulting in the band being promoted to Grade 4 in 2004.
In 2006 the band earned  "Champion Supreme" in Grade 4 and now competes at the Grade 3 level, one of eight bands in the eleven states under the Midwest Pipe Band Association.
